La Diablesse in Verse

There are no translations available.

There was now a beautiful she-devil, La Diablesse, a spawn of hell
Clad in embroidered lace and gold, and other finery as well
Carrying along dry bones, graveyard dust, graveyard dirt, and shells
And other things necessary for her craft, her deceptions, her spells

Now, there’s a grand story that has oft and still continues to be told
Today and still tomorrow, and since long times past of old
Everyman caught in hopes that his every wish would be pleased
Seduced by La Diablesse, dawn away, tempted, toyed with and teased

She floats on air, so listen well, and heed these words I give
Look for hat, turban, or veil, hoof for one foot, and so then chance to live
Whether dark of night, brightest day, children at bed or play
Note faint rattle, sweet perfume, scent of damp and decay

La Diablesse, beautiful she-devil, deception her fine art
False beauty and false promise, of this you want no part
Don’t pay her price, which is your life, the cost is much too dear

Don't follow, ignore her glance, and steel youself fom fear

What Matters Culture?

There are no translations available.

What matters culture, in the despair of night
When we're stuck and challenged, with little hope in sight
When we face life's storms, with no shelter from rain
When we face life's horrors, when we face life's pain

What matters a beacon, when things are not so bright
A strong beating heart, with little hope in sight
A port in a storm, an inspiration to fight
Beauty to cope with horror, love to make all right?

Song to cope with sorrow, story to help soothe pain
Laughter to answer despair, wonder as shield from rain
Reflection to help remember, dance so that we glide
Art to lift up high, to bridge every great divide

Culture matters for right, in the face of all gone wrong
Culture matters for yearning, to persevere and be strong
Culture matters for grace, always standing tall
Culture matters for transcendence, culture matters for all
